How Much Should I Be Eating?
This is one of the most common questions we hear, along with WHAT should I be eating. Most of us have been conditioned to count calories, and we have a basic understanding that in order to lose body fat, we need to consume less calories than we expend. All calories are not created equally, which is where this gets tricky.
In the following video, our good friend, and registered Dietician, Jeremy Mullins, does a great job of explaining how macronutrients (fat, carbohydrates and protein) play various roles in our bodies.
Focusing on macros, instead of merely cutting calories, is how Maggie made such an amazing transformation.
A great place to start, for anyone looking to make a sustainable change in nutrition, is to log your food and take a hard look at the mix of macronutrients you are currently eating on a regular basis. High intensity exercise and strength training plays an important role in building lean muscle mass, but sustainable fat loss and long-term health begins with proper nutrition!
