Meet "Kipping it Real" Team Captain: Kathy Greehalgh
How long have you been doing CrossFit and what did you do (physicalIy, athletic background if any) before starting at BICF?
I have been doing Cross fit for 6 years. Started in a global gym taking a class from a Cross fit coach, and never looked back. I was never in any sports, besides cheerleading in HS. So my fitness was non-existent. I started doing Zumba with a friend once a week, then twice, then almost every day. Started walking, taking kettlebell and kickboxing classes, segway to the CrossFit class. I Lost 35 lbs in the process.
What has been your biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit?
I think my biggest accomplishment in CrossFit.....the love of fitness. I feel strong and body aware., Even if I can't do certain movements...YET.....I am still doing things I never thought I could do. I am learning new things every day and love being part of a community.
Why are you excited to participate in the 2018 BICF Intramural Open?
I am really excited about this year's Intramural open! We are a new gym, with new members and have the perfect opportunity to meet new people and build a very special community. The open season is so much fun, and we will have a blast cheering on our team members in a friendly little competition!
What would you tell someone who is on the fence about participating in the 2018 BICF Intramural Open?
For those that are on the fence about signing up......do It! After all, it is just another WOD, and there is no reason to over think it. We always do the best we can, and the Open is just another way to push ourselves with all the gym backing us. There are so many "firsts" that can be had in this fun atmosphere. I know I got several over the last couple of Opens. Just try, and have fun!
