Meet "We Put...The Pee in Burpee" Team Captain: Sarah Lafayette
How long have you been doing CrossFit and what did you do (physically, athletic background if any) before starting at BICF?
I started CrossFit in the Exarhos garage gym in April or May 2017, so a little less than a year. Before BICF I was an active runner and have participated in 2 half marathons, 1 full and multiple 10 and 5k distance events.
What has been your biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit?
The biggest accomplishment for me has been seeing the consistency in my progress after putting the work in, but it did take time and I had to be patient. Once I tweaked my diet, I saw an even bigger shift, although I need to continue to work on being consistent with it. The pullups were a HUGE hurdle for me in the beginning, I use to dread them but now I look forward to them and am proud that I can RX most of the workouts with them.
Why are you excited to participate in the 2018 BICF Intramural Open?
I am super excited to participate in the 2018 BICF Intramural because I LOVE the energy and comradery of the CrossFit community. I have learned so much from watching and listening to every single participant and coach at the gym. I am looking forward to sharing in that positive energy as we all come together to better ourselves and maybe do something we didn't think we could do.....personal empowerment is contagious.
What would you tell someone who is on the fence about participating in the 2018 BICF Intramural Open?
I would say, give it a try and sign up for our team, "We Put the PEE in Burpee". We're a silly group looking to encourage each other, have fun and work hard! You never know what you can do with the support of your teammates!
Tell us something about you that most people don’t know.
I would love to be a CrossFit coach one day. (The BICF staff thinks this is awesome!!)
