Do I need to purchase special shoes for CrossFit?
The short answer is NO! This is a common question we hear when people are new to the gym. However, we do highly recommend wearing flat sole shoes instead of traditional higher heeled running shoes. Since heel striking (although not ideal) is common in most runners, traditional running shoes (unless they are minimalist) are designed to cushion the heel from impact and are therefore a bit elevated. In weightlifting, we are trying to keep weight on our midfoot/heel so the flatter the shoe, the better. All of these shoes are available for both men and women. We hope this helps get you started!
