Getmacroed Nutrition Challenge
We've said this before, but proper nutrition is key to sustainable weight loss, improved performance in the gym and overall health. Maggie's transformation is the result of manageable lifestyle changes and she wanted to share a few words about her experience.
"Knowledge is power. Nowhere is that more fully represented in my life than in the area of nutrition. What I decide to ingest on a day to day basis is loaded with more than just the needs of my body; I have a history of eating when I'm bored, when I'm stressed, when I'm tired, or when the food is simply made available to me despite not being actually hungry. I'm bombarded every day with ads for foods that aren't the most nutritionally beneficial for me and every grocery store, restaurant, and coffee shop are set up to provide me with less than stellar choices front and center. This is a long winded way to say that I wasn't set up for success in controlling what I ate - that my environment, ignorance and lack of self control all conspired together for the perfect storm of making bad choices for years. I am absolutely delighted to say that this changed thanks to the folks at Macroed. The knowledge I have gained from their program was truly life changing. Quite simply: I'm in control. I know what it takes to fuel my body. I know how to assess a meal and decide whether it works for the goals I have. I better understand portion size and what quantity of food keeps me satisfied, both mentally and physically. I know the balance required with allowing for living my life and enjoying my friends and family and what sacrifices I can make to enjoy other items. I will never look at food the same way again! It's neither good nor bad: it's simply macros (protein, fat or carb). I could not come as far as I have come in my weight loss goals (106 pounds down and counting) without this knowledge. And at this point, it's not about the weight (which I never thought I'd say)! It's about being lean and fit along with feeling and looking good. The non-scale benefits are tremendous. Just feeling in control (clearly) is a huge one for me. Raising children and transferring this knowledge to them is also huge- I want them set up for success. Understanding the ways I can navigate my life, the impact of the choices in front of me, that it's not all or nothing, that there are plenty of delicious options for what makes me happy. Further, the meals and recipes from Macroed are absolute staples in my life and have provided templates for other meal plans. I am not creative and thankfully now have a whole list of good ideas for meals. Lastly, the network that I've gained through the Macroed folks is tremendous. In moments of challenge and weakness, it's so beneficial to have the support of others who are going through the same struggles as you and have the same questions as you".
